Hurt People, Hurt
I had a conversation recently with a divorced mother of a 10 and 12 year old. Her children have had no contact with their father in over a year. No calls, no emails, no cards or letters. In fact, he told his son that, he was hurt by his dad so he was hurting his son. The words, the thought, sent chills up my spine.
As we spoke, she told me that, hurt people, hurt. She couldn’t believe I had never heard that but of course it resonated true. Hard for those sane among us to imagine this man intentionally hurting his son. He has such an opportunity to right the injustice done to him at the hands of his own dad, and yet, he goes the other way! What a tragedy for this family.
Hurt people do hurt. Distance or remove them from your life and the lives of your children until they get the much needed help they deserve. Never pick up and carry the baggage that some how this is your fault. We cannot fix others, no matter how much we want to or how much we try. All it does is bring us down in the process. Walk away, even with tears in your eyes but your head held high. We cannot fix others!
To Your Happiness!
