I had dinner with some school friends and parents last night. For those of you reading this all over the world, our kids attend the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore. My friend Fred and his daughter Stella brought along the ingredients for one of Fred’s many soup dishes. In addition to being a devoted father, Fred is an aspiring chef! I say aspiring because he works as an engineer, but his life passion is cooking; he does it so well and with so much love. I marveled as Fred described to our friends how to prepare the soup, as well as some other recipes only he can whip up. He makes it sound so simple!
Of course, for those of you who cook or aspire to master another hobby, you know success ultimately isn’t determined by degree of difficulty; Fred has a passion. Cooking and seeing the delight on the faces of his family and friends gives Fred so much joy, and nothing is “too much trouble” for him to undertake in the process of delighting those he loves!
Remember, I told you Fred is an engineer. When he was growing up and aspiring to be a chef, he was told not to go there, and to be serious about his future and his career – essentially, to get a “real job.” I’m not giving up on Fred or his dream, nor yours, nor mine!
It’s true, what they say: do what you love every day and you’ll never “work” another day in your life! My dear friends, what do the voices in your head – little or big – tell you to do with the rest of your life? If time, money, and obligations were not an issue, what would you be, what would do?
You get my point. It’s truly never too late, and those voices are speaking to you for a reason. Listen to them!
Like it Bob!
Thanks Jennifer!
